My paintings aim to shatter reality, and make viewers ask philosophical questions. I believe that our current society is in a state of corruption, and the majority of us share a sense of unease that our lives are neither feasible nor fulfilling, but at the same time, feel that a healthier reality is far-fetched.
My paintings exist in a realm between society, imagination, and perception. I am influenced by cartoons, psychedelic album covers, humor, art history, and my love of color. In my work, I employ highly saturated colors in swirling motions and organic shapes to create a sense of rhythm, direction and pattern. In my narrative paintings such as, Waiting for the Worms, Lady Liberty Dropped the Torch, or Fingerbomb, there are images hidden within a psychedelic trance that present the pressing issues of our time through satire and taboo illustrations, such as: sexual innuendos, mutated figures, and parodies of historical paintings. My more abstract pieces such as No Cause to Mourn, Saturated Leopard and a Single Plankton, or Eggheadz, illustrate a matrix of color, engaging shapes, lines, texture and layers that depict chaos, innocence and wonder.
I aim to engage viewers in the following questions: does our perception of life have more potential than we thought, and can change ever happen? Above all, I paint to answer a question: Is change realistic, or merely symbolic?
