About Gigi
Her birth name may be Grace, but her Gallic spunk says otherwise.
Gigi deGrood was born and raised in Minnesota’s most beloved city, Edina. She recently graduated from Gustavus Adolphus College in Saint Peter, MN, earning degrees in Studio Art and Art History. She likes to paint, but she also enjoys working with oil pastels and mixed-media collages. Her work pulls from cartoons, art history and her love of color, and work to shed light on political and societal issues.
Gigi’s professional goals include creating and selling art all over the world, having a shade of yellow in her name, and working in a gallery or museum setting. But if you need her today, you can find her in front of a canvas — pouring her heart and soul into it.
Gigi’s work has been exhibited at Gustavus at both the Hillstrom Museum, and the Schaefer Gallery. She was also included in an exhibition at the Rochester Contemporary Art Center in Rochester, NY, the 410 Project in Mankato, MN, and Poor Farms Studios. She has been awarded both the Student Choice Award at the 2020 Juried Student Exhibition, and the Presidential Art Award by Gustavus Adolphus College.
